What killed my hen?

predatory birds go straight for the breast meat. racoon for sure i have a video of one eating my hen from my trail camera set up to monitor activity.

We are having an issue with a predator right now too. We are guessing a raccoon since only the heads have been eaten (it killed 2 of our flock). The only reason we didn't think hawk was because one of the chickens was eaten under the shed, where they are allowed to roam. We have their coop in an enclosed area that is just 6' yard fence and they are allowed to roam free during the day. we lock them up in the evening. Both chickens were killed during the day though. We are thinking about putting up wildlife cams.

I'm guessing coon. Not hawk. If you are in a place where you can safely shoot, I would leave the body, and keep an eye out for the predator to return.

Definitely a hawk. Every hawk kill I've experienced (mostly by Red Tails) have had the same pattern. So sorry about your girl.

What a hideous sight to come upon. So very sorry. That would give me nightmares for life.
