What killed my Peking duck

I let my ducks out this afternoon about 1pm. When I went back out side around 4 one of them was dead. It was laid face down and I couldn’t see what was wrong but when I turned him over there was blood all around his leg and that is it. I don’t understand what might have killed it and just left him there

I'm sorry for your loss! Any bite marks near the wound? Feathers plucked? Any loose dogs in the neighborhood? Other things out of place?

So sad for you and your Pekin. I can't know what predator did this but perhaps a dog as a raccoon would have made a meal of its kill.

Could have been a hawk but I would have expected more feeding. I tend to agree dog.

I have 3 other Peking’s and thankfully this is the only one that was got. It’s devastating

I have never seen loose dogs around here. There is no feathers laying around. And I didn’t look for bite marks. My husband works second shift. Im waiting for him to check for me

Beware what ever did this will be back. What killed your Pekin may have gotten scared off and didn't have a chance to eat. Are your ducks in a fenced area?
