After school,i went outside to feed all of my animals and discover that something killed my buff brahma hen, and my silver laced wyandotte breeding pair.... i found the feathers near their approximately 10-12 ft off the ground roost. My mom and i went out to our dirt road and found more feathers and some tracks that suggested bobcat... but i am not sure... there is plenty of stuff to climb on to get up there... aomething also killed 4 young chickens about 4 days ago...They were my favorite!!!

just set out a small trap and a large trap with raw bacon...and put all of my free range chickens up...
what could it be???

I dont think it would be anything canine.... because it would not be able to climb....i imagine it will be whatever i catch in my trap tonight.... we will see...

A grey fox can climb like a cat. Coons can & will kill chickens. I have all of them plus bears...just built a varmit proof coop.

Any chance you could borrow a trail cam and try to catch it on camera? If you don't know what you are up against, it makes it a bit harder to trap. If you knew for sure what you were dealing with, you might be able to make sure you are going about catching it in the best way.

Are you certain that it happened while they were roosting. Might it have happened after they came down from their roost in the morning?
Well, we usually wake up for school before they get down...so we would most likely hear it...but possibly..nothing came back last night...both traps untouched...darn.

this predator will meet Jesus soon lol

Sorry to hear about your losses I Denver I few months ago I lost 1 Turkey 8 chickens and 3 ducks and still haven't caught whatever got it but it would be a wild cat or a fox since I'm in Australia and we don't have bobcats good luck catching the varmine that did this
