What kind of Animal can I get that will.....

Goats can eat alfalfa hay just fine without any illness. Some people think that alfalfa causes urinary calci in male goats, but poor water intake and too much grain is much more likely to cause it. Alfalfa is especially good for a pregnant or lactating doe.

No matter the type of hay they eat, they'll cause a lot of waste.

I never thought it was bad for them, just that in most areas alfalfa's more expensive than grass hay, and they're more likely to clean up the grass better cause the stems are finer. I'm anti-waste and make my goats "clean their plates" so to speak
