What Kind of Bantam is This?

I found this in the woods behind the local YMCA and brought it home; no, I didn't steal it, there aren't any houses with chickens near by. It had chicks, 9 to be exact, they all survived and are in the picture. Nobody seems to know what breed this is.

Birchen Old English. Pretty strange to find a wild chicken, and one with chicks as well. Wonder where she came from and where's the rooster?? Maybe you should put an ad in the paper in the lost and found section. She looks really well cared for for someone to have just abandoned her, maybe she got scared and took off. If she were my lost chicken I'd want her back...

we have a problem here with random chickens showing up, when people find them, they tell us to go get them, or bring them to us, seeing that we are the only people around here with chickens. We really aren't supposed to have them here, but we aren't bothered about it. Once we actually had a guinea hen come out of nowhere, it lived with our chickens for about a year, then we brought it to the auction because it caused too much noise

And there wasn't a rooster...I'm assuming it fell off of a truck while being transported.

She certainly is beautiful. I'll bet she was sneaking out of a lot nearby to lay eggs so she could hatch them...and did. I had a partridge rock hen a few years back who did just that and one of my friends had to finally cover the top of her lot to keep her Fayoumi hen from going awol, hiding, laying and hatching anymore eggs. She was becoming overrun by wild chickens. lol. Cover your lot if you keep her.

We've actually had her for about 4 weeks, we kept her and the chicks in a 3X3' rabbit cage with straw until the chicks were big enough to not be bothered by the bigger hens and roosters. I let them out yesterday and they seem to be enjoying the yard

We have 4 acres of land with a small spot of woods. I think they will decide to stay

I agree that she is a birchen old english game bantam. She is adorable and so are her little babies.
