What kind of bird is this I found?

I was outside today bringing my chickens into there brooder from being outside all day when my dog started barking at the side of the garage. I looked at the direction that my dog was barking when I found a little bird. It was really small and really cute. At first I thought it must have flew into the garage since it was just laying down next to the garage. Luckily, I had my camcorder since I was video taping the chicks. So I took a few pictures. After a few minutes, when I got closer to the bird, the bird flew away and scared the living daylights out of me!

But I still want to know if it was a baby or not and what kind of bird it was. Also, why do you think it would be laying down on the ground like that? It didnt seem to be too scared. I mean my dog was proble 3 feet away from it barking! Thanks.

Are you in N. America? My guess is a young common ground dove.

Definitely a young dove of some kind. I'll look closer later tonight.

I'm thinking a young dove. Sometimes, when they are fledglings (just out of the nest), they are very clumsy, and bump into things.....So it may have been kind of in a daze, and then it came to and flew away......

Thanks everyone! It was so adorable and I thought it was hurt until it almost gave me a heart attack when it flew away! Haha!

Well, on second look, the darker beak and lack of a black tip to the tail makes me think mourning dove, but the blue-gray down the back makes me think ground dove. I'll let you decide, cause I have no clue. XD
