What kind of chick do i have?

i bring them outside once a day for about 45minsa - a hour a day in my back yard and front. normally my chicken just goes after ants and random dead stuff on the ground,

so right now im only using a heat lamp at light, its a night time heat lamp so its like a purple light

They need to have heat all the time. Other people know exact temperatures better than I do, but it needs to be warm for them at all times. Small chicks will die of cold.

Yep. I believe that day-old chicks need their temp at 95 degrees F, slowly reducing the temp by 5 degrees each week, but you should also watch their body language (e.g., the chick is away from the lamp's heat area, saying that it is too hot, or (if you had more than 1 chick) they would be huddled up under the lamp, saying that they are too hot.).
