we bought this little buff looking chick and was assured it was a new hampshire red. She sure doesn’t look like it! Now I’m thinking a red crested polish, but I’m not sure. I can’t really can’t find any pictures that match. She is right at 3 weeks old. She is starting to get red wattles and red around the base of her beak. As a new born she had a little poof on top of her head.

There are some (dishonest) sellers who call the offspring whatever breed they have in their flock that they think it most closely resembles. They know full well that it's almost certainly a cross and by the time the buyer knows, they're unreachable. I hope it was an honest mistake but I doubt very much that it was.

Polish, Spitzhauben or Brabanter mix. Definitely not purebred as the legs are yellow.
