Hello!
I have chicks coming next week from Cackle (

), and I am wondering what kind of food you guys feed to your chicks, because I have heard everything from rabbit food to solely scrambled eggs.

Jsut get a bag that says chick starter and 20% protein is good.
Scrambled eggs are jsut a treat.

I just feed the commercial Purina chick start & grow. I feed my adult chickens snacks like scrambled eggs and yogurt. I would feed it to the chicks, and have tried, but they never seem interested in it.

Forget what you've heard.

Go directly to a quality Feed store near you, an Atwood, Tractor Supply Company, Rural King, Fleet Farm, or neighborhood feed store and buy a quality, name brand Chick Starter. Yes, I'd buy medicated (a blocker, not a medicine, per se) or non-medicated, your choice.

You cannot sustain a quality diet by making your own food without a ton of knowledge and a ton of free time.
Oh, and forget the rabbit feed unless you are planning on getting some.

I fed mine starter/grower from the coop till 6 wks then my breeder said he used a grower w/ 21% protien and mixed it with crushed corn from the coop 50/50mix and my 20 turken and 6 Americans LOVE it growin like weeds
