If she is a cross between an EE and a chicken that lays brown eggs there is a chance that she would lay a light brown egg. That could explain where her muffs came from.

Well I don't claim to know anything about chickens really. I'm a newby sort of.... I had a flock last year, but found out that we have a serious fox issue and lost all my chickens. This year I'm starting new. When i got my chicks, i was told they are Americaunas. That is what yours looks like to me, but again... ? Hope this helps. I'm attaching a pic of mine, which are supposed to be americaunas. Good luck!

I really hope they are americaunas , but no red comb???!!! I'm not familiar at all with hybrids or crossbreeds , so any info is wonderful!!

i feel the same way. a little lost with all the different cross breeds, but i was doing some looking on an ameraucana breed page and from other photos, i think i could safely call my girls "Blue Wheaton Bantam Ameraucanas"... that is a mouthful. Mine also duck their heads down and (other than their legs) look like their bodies are horizontal to the ground.. and they run like the dickens in that odd position, one after the other. THEN they come to a halt and start jumping up and towards each other like they are doing some type of challenge... and then they just stop and go on pecking the ground. lol they are so hilarious! but it seems this weird ritual is all a bunch of fun. Have fun with yours. I'm just in love.
