What kind of chicken is this?

Is Peanut Butter an EE or an Ameracuana? I was told she was an Auracana (I totally know the spelling is wrong)

But clearly she isn't rumpless.

KnittingKnutty and chickschool, you both have Easter Eggers.

chickschool, to be an Aneraucana, the bird has to meet the Ameraucana SOP, and they only come in a select number of certain colors. They were developed from EEs, and can only be purchased through a breeder.

So when I buy an Aracauna or Ameracauna at the feed store, what am I getting?
Mine look like those pictured. They lay blue eggs, not green.

My last batch came from MyPetChicken online. They are not bearded, well, not yet.
They are only 12 weeks old.

Hi Amanda,

A good rule of thumb is if you didn't get it from a breeder, it is not an araucana or an ameraucana. Hatcheries carry Easter Eggers labeled as Araucana or Americanas (notice the spelling) With Araucanas its fairly easy to spot the difference since they should look like this

With the Ameraucana it is more difficult to tell the difference but it can be done. First off most hatchery EE's have green looking legs. That is because they are a yellow skinned bird with a blue coloration on the leggs. Yellow and blue make green. The Ameraucana is a white skinned bird and its legs with ge a definate blue grey ( called slate) There are other way to tell the difference but that is the easiest.

You're getting an Easter Egger. EEs can lay pretty much any color egg -- blue, green, pinkish, brown, I think some even lay white. And if they weren't hatched with a beard, they won't have a beard.
