This is my 5 year old's chicken "Strong White Pepper" - his name not mine hehe. She was sold to me as an araucana but I'm not sure!

Did you get Pepper at a feed store? It looks more like a red sex link in general.

We got her at The Mill, which is like a tractor supply. It was in the box marked "araucana" but the rest of the chicks in that box all had brown striping on them. Do you think it's a male?

Wonder if somebody put a chick into the wrong bin, it really looks like a red sex link, if it is, that reddish color means it is female. Easter Eggers (what hatcheries often call Araucana) are mixed and can really look like anything. so it could be an EE, but it would be odd to have one that particular color, especially if all the other ones were the usual chipmunk looking chicks.

I didn't think it was red enough to be a red sexlink but reading more I'm getting the females are "gold" and males are "silver" in red sexlinks. Is that correct? I don't care what she is, my kid loves her :)

She's a Red Sex Link. Red Sex Links are produced by crossing a red gene rooster with a silver gene hen, and the shade of red/gold in the female chicks will depend upon which silver gene hens are used in the breeding.
