These 2 were give to me as a breeding pair but they " couldn't remember " what they were... If it helps both have dark legs, hen is 3 -4 lbs and the Roo is about 5 lbs. The Roo seems to want nothing to do with any hen but the one he came with, to the point he is fighting everything!!!! Other hens, Roo's, dogs, goats and ME !!! but he takes perfect Roo care of her. Whats up? What are they? are they some kind of fighting chicken? I hope someone knows what they are cause I want the Roo gone and every one wants to know what he is? I tell them I don't know and they change their minds.
Thanks for any info you may be able to give.

Sorry, not sure of the breed, but they are very pretty.

You don't say when you got them or if you kept them separate from the existing flock for a while. It seems best to separate them with a barrier where they can see the other birds, but can't get to the other flock, and the other animals until they've settled in and are more comfortable and used to their surroundings.

It sounds like your rooster may just be overwhelmed by the changes and all the new animals and is trying his best to protect himself and his hen.

well they are kinda of wild, they fly on top of the coop and then into the run with all the other girls. I should also say that all the pens up right now are temporary pens and houses cause I have to keep all chickens off the permanent chicken yards and houses due to a Cyoza infection in my old flock and I still have 3 weeks before I can put them all in the permanent areas, never had to deal with birds this wild, I cant catch them, they are now in the trees sleeping so high up it gives me a nose bleed just to look at them. And they are not strangers to one another as they all came from the same place. unless they kept these 2 hid from each other????

Might be some type of game (the rooster reminds me of a toppy rooster a friend once had just a different color) , try asking on the game bird thread in the "breeds, genetics and showing" section on the main forum.

I think these are leghorns which are really good layers often used on farms in times past. Search them up on google images and see if you agree.

Are they supposed to be purebreds or a project breed? They have some mixed qualities of several breeds thus hard to guess. The crest really narrows it down if they are indeed a purebred. They are very striking!

The only breed that comes to mind that could be possible is Icelandic. They may or may not be crested, they come in a variety of colors and comb types. Thy typically have white ears but I know I have seen photos of them with red. Is the hen laying and if so what color of eggs does she lay? Icelandic are supposed to lay a tinted to almost white egg.
