What Kind of Chickn do I Have?

I just bought two new chickens, the lady said they were about 14 weeks old, but she either didn't know what she was talking about or was lying. The two chickens I already have are 8 weeks old and are slightly bigger than the new ones. Anyway, one of the chicks I got is blackish with red/brown tips. But it's legs are very thick and stalky, and its head curves down as well as the beak. I cannot tell what it is, and the lady didn't seem to know. Please give me any feedback or advice! I'll post pics of it soon.

Never mind, got home from a wedding tonight and my dog had killed both new ones....Someone left the latch open once I'd left..

Aww ...That's awful. Sorry to hear it. But, the loses I continually read about on this board confirm why I went through so much trouble and expense to build a secure coop. People up here in the mountains are much more casual about their chickens than I am; they get 50, let them run loose, and suffer the loses. They recoup by having roosters which create more babies. They think I'm nuts for putting so much into my girls ("NO ROOSTERS??"), but I don't want to go through a sad experience of this type if I can help it. I watched my neighbor's chickens disappear in no time, so I was prewarned.

Besides, as a school psychologist I'm kinda used to being thought of as nuts. Potato - Potahto
