DONT BREED THEM!! Because the crest is actually a skull deformity and most likely the ducklings will die within a few days or wont like ver long at all. Ask Fattie. She breeds the crested ducks and can tell you about all the pros and cons of breeding crested ducks.

It leaves you with dead babies. You should only breed a crested to a non-crested.

Suck! i was told that they would die in the egg and wouldnt hatch, which is the only reason i got her. I dont want dead ducklings. well, i probably dont need ducklings anyway...

Most will die in the shell...but some will hatch. There have been some pretty gruesome photos posted by people who bred crested to crested. Like hatching with brains outside of the skull...

Well, my crested to crested matings have not had that terrible of results. The person who test hatched for me hatched 5 out of 6 and 4 were crested. I only hatched one out of three but the other two quit early. So far my chick (which was double crested) is fine and doing great. He is about half grown now.

Hi Becky,
It was 6 for 6 - all hatched and 4 of them have crests. One just has a tiny crest but it's there. They are starting to feather out, I think I will have a drake that looks like yours but with a little smaller crest.
