what kind of ducks to get???

My hope was that is we built them a duck house down by the creek they would stay down there and I wouldn't have to be changing water in a wading pool or small pond all the time. I was hoping they would be able to go back and forth and not come to the house. The bottom line is they would be great bait for any predator and we do have those. I have had a fox by the chicken house this past week and seen him again another evening in the field. He would pick one off every day till they are gone if they weren't in a run. I hated to quit letting my girls freerange but they have over an acre to run in now with 5 ft. fence keeping them and my flowers safe! So basically we would have to build the ducks a habitat to live in right now and I don't know if I want to get that involved in it. I appreciate all the info. Keeping them safe is definitely more of a priority than the flowers. I had a guy come look at my chicken house this week and he ask me"you lock them up everynight"??? kinda amazed---I told him you have to if you want to keep them. I am one of the diehards on here that you have to have a fort knox at night to keep things in!!!! And I do!!! So getting into ducks would be another very serious venture to me. That is why I ask---the son just remembers the 3 little ones he had as a child that I am quite sure a fox ran off with every one and I don't want a repeat of that. Again, thanks everyone!!!
