Thx....i have a broody muscovy on 10 eggs day 12 and i have 4 goose eggs..i am thinking of swaping out the muscovy eggs with goose eggs..i have a lot of muscovies anf few geese..will it work or will the broody muscovy give up on its eggs hatching date which will be 12days before goose egg hatch date or will she sit till eggs hatch?Gender can be hard to tell from the pictures but the solid grey maybe looks like a gander because of the longer neck, the other looks like a female to me.
Ganders tend to have slightly longer necks in proportion to their bodies compared to females. Ganders will also instinctively want to get between who they’re bonded with and whoever or whatever else.
The pied goose could be a Pomeranian, or it might just have the pied genes, the grey could be Toulouse, or just have the grey genes, many domestic geese of the anser anser lineage are naturally grey because they are domesticated greylags.
They can breed. Domestic geese are derived from the wild greylag goose and the wild swan goose, which are both members of the Anser family, so regardless of breed they can reproduce.
I have no idea.Thx....i have a broody muscovy on 10 eggs day 12 and i have 4 goose eggs..i am thinking of swaping out the muscovy eggs with goose eggs..i have a lot of muscovies anf few geese..will it work or will the broody muscovy give up on its eggs hatching date which will be 12days before goose egg hatch date or will she sit till eggs hatch?
Thx i replaced musovy eggs with geese eggs day 2...fingers crossedI would think she will stay the course I know mine would. Heck, I have one that hasn't had one egg under her and is brooding. They are truly dedicated and a little nutty too. I take mine out every morning close the coop up so she can't get back in mess up her nest then in the afternoon when it's time for the chickens to go in I open the pop door and in she goes back in to sit on her empty nest she has to make all over again.![]()

yes the Muscovy is truly dedicated, she sat on nest but only one gosling hatched but died there after rest of the eggs were not viable 2 were cracked....I would think she will stay the course I know mine would.
