I have 7 week old chicks and they are eatign grass and bugs. I have been giving them play sand as grit but I was wondering if there was another type of grit they need. many brands I see have oyster shell in them which I thought was bad for chicks. Any suggestions are greatly apprecieated.

Oyster shell provides extra calcium. Chicks don't need any because they are not laying eggs. When your birds start laying, you can provide oyster shell for them free choice.

The play sand is fine. It you let the birds outside any at all, they will also pick up grit in the form of small rocks and other sand.

Be careful with the grass, even with grit. If they eat too much at once, it may bunch up in their crop and become impacted.
