What kind of Maran?

Mom was a splash maran and dad is either BCM or blue copper maran

Firstly that is an adorable chick. Secondly it is always Marans, not Maran. Even if there is only one. And if mom was a Splash Marans (not Copper) and dad was Blue or Black Copper, then the chick can either be blue or black with copper leakage (most likely).

Definitely a cute chick... and yes, always said with the S whether plural or singular after the French town they hail from.

To me, I bred Marans for a few years and that chick doesn't look like a typical phenotype for BBS copper Marans and have to wonder if there is indeed other crossbreed possibilities.

Just for reference typical Black or blue copper marans chicks hatch with ONLY black or blue and white... no copper.. eg from google... You can see black blue and splash Marans chicks here... All have white under belly and typically white wing tips. Are these from your own birds or someone else's?

And to help with your future question about outcomes here are a couple items...

If dad was black the chick would be blue copper.

If dad was blue chick could be either splash or blue. According to your stated parentage,,, black chicks is not gonna happen.

And a fun little genetics feather color genetics calculator, it doesn't account for leakage or hidden genes...

Yes I know it's Marans. I'm seeing fluffy cheeks on this chick too... Whcibbis wierd because it came out of the Marans pen of someone I got eggs from. She thinks mom was either splash or Birchen. Then there's a blue copper and black copper male . I have no idea what this one is.. came out of a very dark egg though
