For our six large breed ducks (silver Appleyards), we have an elevated 4'x8' duckhouse with an attacked 12'x8' run. Because the duckhouse is elevated, we actually have a 16'x8' run because they can use the area underneath the duckhouse. We have separated the area under the duckhouse with wire and a door, so we can keep a duck or two in there to keep them separate from the rest of the flock. We also built an attached "annex" that gives us more space to keep a duck separate. Planning in advance for how you can separate your birds easily is a VERY good idea.
