What kind of predator would kill my duck this way??? Very strange

My family went on vacation and received a text Sunday that one of our ducks had died from a trustworthy caretaker. The caretaker put the duck in a shoe box and we returned Monday. We've had ducks attacked in the past but we build a totally enclosed cage for them (fencing on top, chicken wire all around) with a door. This duck was completely plucked on its back and sides and wings. Hawks in the past have done this to our ducks but they always rip off the head first. The duck, a small male call duck, still had its eyes open, so it probably died suddenly. We have two female chickens and one other Pekin female living in the same enclosure, all of them get along. There were no scratches or wounds. His neck wasn't snapped but he was almost cleanly plucked. He couldn't have been sick or beaten up by other poultry (and died from natural complications) because his eyes were open. We have no idea what happened???

Sounds to me like it could have been another bird.
