I posted last nigh that something got my duck, it climb a 4 foot chain link fence and went in the coop and got my Duck. I couldn't sleep at all last night so at first light i found a trail of feathers here and there and about 30 yard from the Coop with help of my Bullmastiff and rat terrier i found a pile of feathers with what look like a piece of grisel. Bones and all were gone. Can someone tell me what kind of predator it could be? New to Ducks and Chickens..

Thanks.

This sounds like a dog or dog relative. Dogs get my ducks more than anything else at all. It often invovles a larger or more gifted dog clearing my 6 foot fences to get my ducks. I'd say if its a solo act over 4" chain link, its probobly a dog. Foxes don't tend to get that high, and go back with a duck in tow. If you have wolves, everyone would be gone, as they tend toward group hunting. Your going to have to either add hot wire to the top of your fence or add to the fence. OR--I lock my ducks up in a little building at night. Always. Dogs never get in during the day, its always at night for me.

Lock them up at night, and you won't lose your ducks anymore.

Thank you for ur time..I was just outside working on the fence..I do lock them up at night. i lock the chickens up and then a terrible storm came up with lighting so i didn't want to be near the metal fence...it last for 2 hours and when i went outside to close the duck coop up is when i notice the duck missing. Again thanks for your advice and help Going to see about putting a motion light up to.
