What kind of Red are we!!! Lots of Pics!!

I have a black sex link and she has kike a redish gold color on her chest, she is very pretty but also very skitish when we walk into her pen. she thinks that its fun to attack our feet when we walk out of her pen. there is a picture of her under americana roo's by pooh731 if you want to see her. at what age will she start laying eggs, she is almost 3 months old.

My RSL, aka Golden Comets, are by far the most friendly of the flock. They are always the first ones to come check out what I have. My White ones, yet to be identified for sure, are the escape artist. if there a way out all four of those guys are out in a minute.

yep yep those are some pretty red SLs. You can think of Red SL as the 'breed', and all the fancy names of Cinnamon Queen, Gold Comet, etc are just marketing strategy by hatcheries to make them sound amazing (which they are!).

Keep in mind that these are a hybrid that result from a very specific genetic crossing to produce one-time results. Their traits do not breed true, so your bird is best just used for eggs. Most of the time, that's what a SL does best anyway

Mine are around 4 months old... a couple look like they might be getting ready to start laying. Their combs are getting bigger and much much redder - just in the last week or so! Yay! In addition to my 5 RSL, I have 3 Black SL (one is more reddish gold than black though) and 2 RIR. My RIRs have been the best layers so far. I haven't had more than 1 or two eggs a day for a couple months now (I know for a fact they were coming from the RIRs). I was pleasantly surprised to find 4 this morning which means 2 of my BSLs must be laying again! YAY!!!

I have 8 of them. I'm not planning on hatching but if I do I am glad you told me about that.
