He looks awesome. Does he have 5 toes? What about his leg color? He has a rose comb which technically could be from the silkie but...he could be a frizzle cochin x silkie (I think they are called sizzles) one of those could have crossed with a wyandotte which would explain the super red face, rose comb, and crazy colors.

hello everyone!

thanks for such a quick response. my first post here, btw.

he has 5 toes. his legs are kinda gray and yellow.....and feathered.

i just got started with chickens again (after many many years). i found him at a local trade day and bought him from a man and his son who raise a variety of chickens. when i saw him.....i had to have him. he is very sweet and reminds me of the silkies i used to have.

Technically a silkies comb is a rose comb + crest with 3 points so

haha.
You said the legs are yellow which would support my crazy thought of having wyandotte in there because a majority of the time dark legs are dominant. Well it depends though too because sexlinked leg coloring could be at play if his father was the silkie and the mother was frizzle cochin. So many possibilities lol.

"technically" is nothing. The Standard says a walnut comb with a mulberry color. It should not have any points on it though sometimes they do and it is not considered a fault. They can also have little bumps along the surface. Otherwise it is considered a Walnut comb.

The rosecomb has been USED in the history of it which is why some combs do have points and are more flat than round. The crest (more specifically called a Top knot or the poof) does not have anything to do with the comb.
