What kind of sand to use?

I'm completely lost as to what kind of sand to use in my coop. I know I want to do sand, but I've read so much conflicting info on what kind to use. Help please!

I used coarse sand in one of my coops because we had extra from another project and I had to use play sand in three other coops we have (wrong kind got delivered). I'm going to strip the play sand out because its so fine, it's dusty. I will be putting coarse sand in as soon as the freeze laws are off and I can get it delivered. I think the coarse sand is much better and I have had it in the first coop for almost 5 years.

So whatever kind of sand I can find, just be sure and stay with coarse sand. This helps a lot. Thanks!

We use Sweet PDZ instead of sand. It keep the smell down. You can buy it in the horse aisle. Its usually used in stalls.
