We are bulding our run and will have an electric stapler. What kind of staples are best to use for our 1/2" hardware cloth to sink it into the 4x4's and 2x4's (treated)?

You can fasten the hardware wire with staples, but, ultimately you need to fasten the wire to the 2x4 with screws and washers. Predators can pull stapled wire off of the 2x4 in a heart beat.

I have a narrow crown air stapler, I'm using 1 1/2" staples to staple my hardware cloth. This is the third coop I've built this way, never had a problem with the staples pulling out, or a predator removing them..........I do try to make sure not to staple the outside edge of the HC, I usually try to shoot across the corners of at least the second run on it. I'm not sure about an electric stapler.

Me too. I used the same to cover my post and rail fencing with welded wire 9 years ago and it's holding strong. The staples I use are galvanized.
