Since winter has set in, there isn't much for the flock to peck at. No greens or bugs, so I thought maybe I'd get suet blocks for them. But I don't know much about them.

I've seen several different kinds of suet blocks at TSC,WalMart, etc but which is best for my bantam flock that is close to point of lay? I also have one bantam roo. The most common ones I've seen are for woodpeckers or wild birds. Are they ok for chickens? And will it be ok to just put in the run without a suet cage?

Also, I've seen references to "flock block" on here. Can anyone give me a bit of info on them? Are they bigger than the little suet blocks? What exactly is in a "flock block" and where can I buy it?

Thanks!
