Saturday morning we were outside working in the yard and had a turkey show up. I know its a girl but unsure of the breed. I thought maybe someone here could tell me what she is. She is very nice and my chickens don't mind when she comes around. Any advice would be great Thanks

It might be a Bronze Broad Breasted Turkey. They look a lot like a wild turkey.

It must have gotten out of a neighbor's pen.

She look sto be wild or a wild X. Just because she seems calm doesn't mean she hasn't been or isn't wild. I have wild, pure RIO Grande come into the yard all thetime and as long as we don't frighten them, they allow us to come quite close. Many Rio's in this area live right in city and can become quite a backyard nuisance, wild in name only.

I had a wild hen with poults hanging out with my domestic and her poults... It didn't take long before they started following me into the barn at feeding time. I almost hated letting anyone hunt turkeys here, it was kinda like shooting fish in a barrel.

That isn't a Broad Breasted, the legs are way too thin for that. I'm thinking it may be a wild. My first thought was narrigansett, but I think it's the light reflecting on the feathers making it look grayish. Is the color actually bronze?

I would say it is "probably" a wild turkey, most likely from the Merriam subspecies, common in your state of Washington. Now, being she is very tame or approachable suggests either she was hand raised or is a cross with a domestic bronze variety. As Frosty says, not broad breasted. Sort of hard to tell from one photo how large she is, since there is nothing to compare her too. I do not see anything Narraganssett about her other than the heavy light tipped feathers give her a grey appearance from a distance.
