He/she was in with a bunch of chicks that I bought. I was told at the time that the chicks were 1 week old. That would make it about 6 to 7 weeks old now. I would like to know the breed and gender if anyone can tell yet. I'm new to turkeys.

That's right a black spanish. It is really too soon to be able to tell the sex. I went back and forth when my 2 BS were growing up - they turned out to both be toms and they follow me around like the dogs. I will not eat them - I got them as pets and they are my babies!

Yay! I have a Black Spanish too.

They're so cute when they're little! They have black spots around their eyes, which make their eyes look even bigger than they naturally are.

AWW he/she is cute. I am also new to turkeys and mine is also black with a white face...just a few weeks old so I'm thinking mine must be the a BS as well. Thanks for this thread...I was wondering about that. I hope these are a "good" breed of turkey to have.

Here's a picture of my boys all grown up. Their names are Popcorn & Ruffles. Aren't they handsome!! They are so funny - I can hug them and even pick them up if necessary but they perfer I don't. But they follow me around and stay a just a few inches aways from me. If I lay down say on a towel they will lay by me.

I can't help but really love my boys. Now I have 4 baby turkeys - I hope they will be as sweet as P & R. 2 - Royal Palms ( jelly bean & no name yet - hatched yesterday), 1 Blue Slate ( tucker) & one Eastern Wild ( snickers).
