What kind of worms are these? How can I treat my entire flock?

I was cleaning the coop this morning and I found a dropping with these white long looking sticks. I poked them with a stick and they didn't move. They look like worms to me, it is my first time encountering this. Are these worms? What kind? How can I treat my entire flock, I don't know which chicken's 💩 that is. What can I do? Also another question. Some of my chickens are laying eggs right now. Can I still eat those eggs or should I throw them out?

Those are large roundworms, the most common worm that affects chickens. Other worms or their eggs are too small to see without a microscope. You may use fenbendazole 10% in products such as Safeguard liquid goat wormer or the horse paste, or Panacur horse paste. Dosage is 1/4 ml per pound of weight given once and again in 10 days to treat only roundworms. When you give that dosage for 5 consecutive days, it will treat round, capillary and gapeworms as well . There is a 14 day egg withdrawal time after using it.

Do I have to give all of my chickens that? I've got 20 hens so, I would have to get something else. Do you know anything else I can use to treat the entire flock? And is it safe to eat their eggs when they have roundworms?

If one has worms, they probably should all be treated. Worms can damage their intestines which is why there is some blood in the poop picture. Yes, it is not that difficult to worm all of your chickens and to give each one the correct dosage. SafeGuard liquid goat wormer is shaken well and each dose is pulled up with a syringe. A 5 pound chicken would get 1.25 ml or 1 1/4 ml. To treat the round worms it is given once, and again in 10 days.

To worm all of your chickens, go into the coop just before daylight with a red head lamp. Pick each chicken up off the roost and hold it in the crook of your arm. Open the beak by pulling down on the wattles, and squirt in part if the dose, release the wattles to swallow and repeat with the rest. Release the chicken to the floor.

I would toss the eggs after medicating, since there would be a small amount of medication passed through the egg, but some people ignore the egg withdrawal time. It is up to you.
