What kind of yarn is this?

My sister-in-law picked up a huge trashbag full of yarn for me at a yard sale last weekend and today I am going through it all and putting it away in my stash.
It is 99% acrylic yarn but I came across 4 cone shaped spools of "yarn" , 2 navy blue and 2 white. Each cone has a sticker inside of it that says 100% cotton. But the yarn is more like threads, one strand is really 8 threads. It's wide and loose. I have never seen anything like it and don't know how to use it and there is alot of it.
I have it in my natural fiber section in the cotton category (I super organize my yarn) but I'm not sure if it's even a traditional hand knitting yarn or if it's for a machine or crochet or what....

Anyone have any ideas?

Probably yarn used in knitting machines or industrial use if it's more like a thick thread than what you think of as knitting or crochet yarn. Can you post a pic?

No, I can't right now as my husband took the camera with him to work.

Looking at pics of machine yarn on google, it does look exactly like it. Can I use it by hand or should I just give it away?

You can use it - be creative! You can double the strands or even triple to add more bulk to it as you knit/crochet or use itty tiny needles to make baby items.

Think of it as a challenge

You can crochet/knit with any kind of yarn. Just have to figure out what you want/can do with it.
