Hi everyone we are thinking about raising a turkey next spring for thanksgiving dinner. I was wondering what would be the best breed to raise for this, any thoughts?

If you are starting in the spring, you can go with any breed that tickles your fancy. As long as you have it before the end of May, you should end up with a 20lb bird. If you go with a broad breasted, think about what size turkey you want and order accordingly. Buying a BB in June will result in a 30lb bird on the table. We got our BBs the last week of August and had 10-19lbs on the table. (and get it a friend! You can always gift it, or sell it, or grind it up and put it in 1lb packs in the freezer.)
