it makes plenty of sense then (if you under stand genetics at least) long story short lavender chickens can also make black, and if you cross lavender and blue you can also get blacks (did this one my self with orpingtons lav rooster blue, hen), and well i am at it just going to say blue dose NOT breed true (just thought i would as this in :) ).
 
Lavender is black diluted by two copies of the lavender gene. With only one copy the bird is black instead of lavender. https://www.backyardchickens.com/posts/24428758

White gets weird with dominant white and recessive white. I don't understand it well enough to explain it.
i agree, i was going to say that, but thought two post that say pretty much the same thing would be weird :)
