what kinda hen am i

Is that so? That may explain why I have a "columbian wyandotte" with a straight comb, and another of the same with white-edged black feathers EVERYWHERE... verdict is still out whether the second is a cockerel, as the back feathers that have finally come in are pointy... but I've heard that it's the hackle and saddle feathers that are pointy, and these are large feathers in the middle back...

Agreed. It is very rare for a hatchery to produce a decent Columbian patterned bird, as they do not cull their stock. Most hatchery Columbians I have purchased have black markings all over the place.
