TX baby!
three seperate piles of feathers from one bird one of tail feathers, one with a few wing feathers, and the other body feathers.

Our Silkie rooster Smokey is missing and there are three seperate piles of feathers spaced about 100 ft apart from each other

It happened between 8:30 am and 10:30 am. I'm guessing around 9:30 when it happened as one of the hens was squaking for the rest of the group.

It happened close to the house, and we are fenced in on both sides. There has been a stray yellow cat in the area but not close to the house (plus we have 3 very awrny cats that hang out outside--but they arnt speaking)

A common belief that coyotes are only feeding at night and not during the day is not factual. Right now the female coyotes around here are teaching their young to fend for themselves and are seen quite often during the day. I wouldn't be surprised if your loss was due to such an event.
If there are foxes nearby, the same would hold true.
