what level protein to feed adult and baby quail

hi everyone! I am going to get Coturnix quail this spring and so I was wondering what percent protein (and what food) is recommended for baby and adults. I am also interested in knowing what treats are favored. thanks in advance!

I keep mine on 28 percent gamebird starter. From hatch til the end.

For treats. Meal worms, fruits, vegetables, and bird seeds.

I have a local elevator get it for me.

But can be found sometimes at tsc.

Game Bird feed is what I use. Brand has depended upon what I had available. First it was Purina multi-flock (it was the best TSC had to offer), then Kalmbach feeds Gamebird starter, now Hubbard Gamebird (28%). When changing feed, I mixed the previous and new for a few days, then mostly new, to all new feed. My quail really like cabbage...they also enjoy apples and carrots. I've tried a few other things like yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna fish, and they eat some, but prefer the fruit and veg. Haven't tried mealworms. They LOVE dust baths and they LOVE cuttlebone (like you would put in a parrot cage). Good Luck!

Im with the gamebird starter my self. have tried home made feed mix but the 13$ 50lb bag was just more convienient

I use Manna Pro gamebird/showbird for all ages. I’m pretty sure it’s 26%. Older birds will get occasional veggie treats. They also love mealworms. Crushed up egg shells free choice for the laying hens.
