What made you start keeping chickens?

I started keeping chickens because I wanted goats, I didn't wanted to milk goats daily...

We wandered into a feed store during chick days, & now here we are on our 3rd season of "As the Egg Turns"....

When I was growing up, my Grandmother had a farm. I stayed with her every summer, and helped her gather eggs. I have always wanted chickens, they take me back to a simpler time, when life was simple, you had a garden, some chickens, maybe a cow.
In another aspect, I guess I'm paying tribute to my Grandma
