I was checking on my babies and I pulled the Poland out of the brooder to check him/her since we've been dealing with pasty butt with him . Sat him/her down on the top of the brooder and instantly he falls to his side and closes his/her eyes lol . Since I'm new to raising chickens I thought "oh my , something is wrong " . I grabbed him up and start giving him the once and twice over lol. He opens his eyes and chirps happily at me so I put him back down and he instantly lays on his side and goes back to sleep . I take another one of my babies out and she does the exact same thing . Instantly melts onto the top of the brooder lid . The AHA !!! moment and I feel stupid lol . The sun is shinning right onto that part of the brooder lid . Then came the sigh of relief , WHEW !! Nothing wrong indeed just a lil sun bathing .

I have a dwarf bantam pullet that is 4 months old but acts like a baby peeping at me wanting me to I pick her up, and then always melts in my hand. When I got her and her sister at 6 weeks old they were identical and I had to band them to tell them apart, but now months later the sister is over 12 ounces and the dwarf is 6.5 ounces. I'm constantly worrying about her, because she's so little and they're in with 4 7-8 pound Easter Eggers (who have never touched them,) and every time I pick her up she melts in my hand and her eyes close. If I try to take a picture of her, she looks sickly while her sister poses like a model. But when I put her back in the coop, she runs around just fine and will even chase the big chickens away from the treat bowl to the point that they're scared of her. She does like to sun bathe, but otherwise I think it's just her being herself. I just call her a melting chicken and make sure to give her lots of attention that she demands.

We had a kitten that did that... Took her to the vet, they scruffed her, and gave her some sort of oral medication, when they let go, she just rolled over and played dead... the vet actually looked concerned at the limp kitten, but he hadn't done anything to her that could possibly have hurt her... after poking her a few times she decided to get up and yell at us...
