what makes the difference btwn show and pet quality?

thanks. i thought that might be it but didn't know if there was something more specific
I am new to seramas and this is a difficult question to find an answer to. As it depends on which type of shows you plan to attend table top or APA/ABA cage in. I see a lot of people do table top which is mostly focuses on type and color of feathers, ears, feet are not concern, which personally I would participate in as seramas are so new and already have restricted gene pool trying to breed for type and color is going to restrict the gene pool even further. I did find this reference. http://www.seramacouncilofnorthamerica.com/17-general/scna-articles/82-standards-and-judging.html. I have not been able to locate the APA/ABA standards to figure out what colors are approved for showing.

thanks for this link. my daughter is doing 4h shows with seramas so i wanted to have an idea of how to show her what to do with them - cage vs table. we will train our birds in both kinds to be on the safe side

It is my belief that 4-H is completely different (talk to your leader) as I believe they focus more on how they bird is cared for (can they answer questions about proper care) and handled (hold the bird the proper way) and they do table top which is walking the bird but not the same as table top that is done SCNA shows. May be different in other areas but I've been told our 4H really doesn't look at breed standards at all.

My son showed chickens for several years in FFA. All of the shows he attended regardless of youth or open were APA/ABA shows, meaning the birds had to meet standard. I'm not sure if it has since changed as I have not kept up with Seramas since he did not show that breed but the last I knew the only recognized color (variety) for Seramas was white, of course it would be different for a Serama table top show.
