What meat breed do you cross? do you "make your own"
I have cornish cross now in the pen but I want to breed my own "meat mutts" from assorted cornish, white rock, RIR and a few large marins and EE. Any advice? what do you use to breed for your own "back yard" meat birds.
I hear from the hatchery that the RIR over dark/light cornish will give you a "slow broiler" (not as good as the real thing)
(before anyone replys... I KNOW cornish cross are the best breeders and no one can copy. I just want to be self sufficient)
Thanks all advise on breeds appreciated
