What might these crosses give?

Why are you asking about crossing here? This is the SOP forum .This thread should be moved. The Sussex cock is not top quality. Not even close. I bred top quality Light Sussex. This cock is average. He is high stationed. His color is good. His silhouette is not. He needs to be more collected in body. His neck too long , his breast too shallow.
Surf on over to Katherine Plumers art website. Look at the Light Sussex painting she did for the 2010 APA SOP. Compare the birds.. www.katherineplumer.com
click on "drawings".
Click on "poultry drawings"
click on 2010 Standard of Perfection drawings"
click on "Light Sussex" .
Or perhaps this pic was taken as he was stretching up to crow? Always a bad idea as such a pic misinterprets breed type.
In Sussex, the breed type is so closely aligned to production virtues that if it doesn't look like a Sussex , it literally isn't a Sussex.

Can you just seriously leave my thread? No one gives a damn about what your saying, and frankly I don’t care that his not “top quality” to you because in my eyes, he is and all chickens are equally beautiful.
You need a color expert. Find BYC folk: , nicalandia or Henk69 or tadkerson . Sonoransilkies is also great with color. They cruise the "general breed discussions" forum.
If you title your thread " calling color experts" , that should get attention.
To get red sex links you need to use a Light Sussex hen, not a Light Sussex cock.
A Light Sussex cock over a black and white barred bird will give you black sex links.
If you put a Light Sussex cock over a gold or red based hen, the chicks will look alike. No sex-linking. But when the birds are grown, the females will look like Light Sussex but the males will have yellow in their Hackles and saddle feathers. This cross does not breed true so has no useful purpose so is not popular.
Best,
Karen
Serioiusly Karen, I honestly do not care how “popular” my chicks be, they’re not on Big Brother. I just wanted to hatch chicks from him as we’re rehoming him and his my fav rooster I’ve ever had and his so beautiful to me!, your opinion on that is thin air for me.
I am not snobbish. I am protectionist.
If one wants to breed purebred Light Sussex , I am always ready to help any way I can. from advice, to lit, to helping procure top stock. What I am not up for is approving of a mixed breed thread in a SOP forum when it does not have to do with founding a new breed or variety. We need more purebred Light Sussex folk. I am not gonna sit here and say an average cock is lovely. That doesn't help the variety. If one wants to breed barnyard mixes that's fine. More power to them. Just take it out of the SOP forum so folk don't get the idea that's all Light Sussex are good for. I understand the tremendous usefulness of this Wheaten based Silver Columbian bird for breeding sex-linked birds. it is one of the best go-to varities. But in this forum, we write about purebred genetics.
Karen
And no. I’m not going to take it out as you’re the only one saying and therefore I’m not going to move it just because a lady called ‘Karen’ has told me. And really Karen, no one cares that your birds are top quality, if you really think they’re good, go make a whole new thread about it. You do come across very snobby.

And no thank you very much, your wrong. This forum is titled “Exhibition, Genetics, and the breeding to the SOP” clearly indicating this forum regards questions or information about Exhibitions, GENETICS like my thread and says breeding to the SOP. It does not say “Exhibition, genetics to the breeding of the SOP”’ Therefore I’m really in the right to post this here. I just love my rooster so dearly much that I wanted to keep “a part of him” at my house, and since we also have a broody hen, it’s convenient and it’ll make her and I happy. We’re not hear to impress or make you happy Karen.
So please, leave my thread, and continue to winge elsewhere.

Fine, whatever. This forum was supposed to be for purebred and "founding a breed/variety" genetics.
There are plenty of threads out in the general discussion forums for cross-breeding. Or start a new thread.
Karen
And not to mention Karen, but if you really OPEN UP your eyes you’ll see on this forum that I’m not the only one asking about cross breds. Now, why don’t you cross over to their thread, interrupt it and winge about where they’ve posted theirs and about their chickens.

I agree, he is beautiful the way he is, there should not be a right and wrong way for an animal to look. He is perfect and his offspring will be too. Please do post photos of his offspring, I'd really love to see :)

I've been told my beautiful Wyandotte rooster whom I hatched and raised myself should be culled because he has a tiny feather line down his shank. That makes him "wrong" and apparently he should die for that. I find it ridiculous how if a chickens tail isn't the exact angle or it's legs aren't the right shade or If the comb is slightly bigger or smaller then normal then it deserves to die because it's "wrong". I think if you truly love chickens for what they are not what they look like then it doesn't matter to you if they are a little unique

If you ever post to SOP forum regardless whether on purpose, or by accident, there are consequences you face.

Stop being a fool please. It’s not like this forum is for special people. There’s other people out there too and my question is related to genetics so back off.
