Im not sure, but it may be a lash egg. Ive seen quite a few post same type of photo on here and are told that. Look it up and see if it fits your scenario.
Hopefully more experienced people will chime in soon with more help.

Ex battery.
About one to one and a half I suspect.
Lump is about an inch and a half long.
Found in nesting box next to a freshly laid egg.

@Duckee got it right. That's a Lash Egg (Salpingitis) which is inflammation of the oviduct.
You may be help treat with an antibiotic. Are you in the U.S. or ??
