What on earth...??

Yes, that is simply an egg without a shell. It happens for a number of reasons but the bottom line is to provide oyster shell and high protein food with plenty of water. If she is a young layer this should resolve. When molting or under stress, I give my girls chick 24% protein food to supplement them. They act like it's candy and get so excited when they get some! I do not put oyster shell in with their food, I have it in a big saucer in each run as a free choice food. They scratch around in it and eat it. I wouldn't worry about this unless it becomes a daily thing. :p
