What pheasant species are available in the US??

I like Swinhoes with their beautiful cobalt blues, burgundies and such. Not as common as some of the others, but easy to keep like Silvers. I like Kiliji (sp) also with their long head tassel..... everyone has their own opinion of what is beautiful.

Doesn't sound like pheasants would be your best choice then.

I should have explained a little better.............. I suggested pheasants may not be your best choice, because if you think they are dull........... then you probably should not raise them. Raise what you like, not because you think it will sell better than another.

Don't get me wrong.... I have no problem with making money off them......... but you will make more money off raising something you like. We have Fireback pheasants, which are rare and extremely rare in the northern states because they are not winter hardy. Even though they sell for alot more than a red golden, we make more money on the goldens!

My problem is that I like them ALL. I have not seen many birds or animals that I would consider dull. Cheer pheasants for example are not bright colored- but are awesome pheasants, they have some cool sounds and beautiful feather patterns.

^gorgeous bird, imo pheasants have some of the most intricate feather markings of any bird and thats what makes them so beautiful.
