What predators pose a digging concern?

What predators do I need to worry about digging under the run/coop? I don't think I have anything in my area that will really dig under there so I don't think it is necessary to bury the hardward cloth down but I just want to be sure.

Thank you,
CJ

to answer your question: all of them

instead of burying your hardware cloth deep, you can just lay it flat attached to the end of your fence, and put a little dirt and/or grass seed over it and it will grow up through the wires. Mine goes out a foot from the fence, others recommend 2ft. It's effective and far less work than burying the wire straight down.

Like Tala, I use the apron of wire on the ground. Here in NH the ground is mostly rock, so if I tried to bury the wire I would be on a fool's errand. My apron is 2', staked down with tent pegs, and I have never had anything get into it. Of course I also have a perimeter of electrified netting surrounding the hard wire fencing just to be absolutely sure that nothing is going to get into my run. I am dealing with every predator there is except large snakes and big cats, so I need to be extra cautious.

Good luck.

We are sinking our chain link around the run and then using hardware cloth on both sides over anything I plant to grow up the sides..on the coop itself..I might have to look into just doing an apron..not sure yet
