Can someone tell me what rare breed this is? I got the top hat special from murray mcmurray today and this is the rare they sent he is smaller than the others and is gray with furr down part of the feet.

Does s/he have a single comb? (With points on it) Or a pea comb (rounded)?

Well it looks like a Blue Cochin to me right now.

What about a blue langshan? Cochins are not rare.

ETA: No.. They don't have blue langshans... None of the feather footed breeds they list look like this! And they have cochins as rare? I was not aware that they were.. Guess they must just be popular in my area.

I don't think Murray McMurray carries blue Langshans. But I would have agreed with you.

I would have gone with Blue Cochin right away too if it weren't for the slate legs.

But then again, hatchery shenanegans could explain that I suppose.

Only thing that gets me is that this chick looks lavender..

Good call Aoxa, now I'm seeing it too. Hrm... this bears investigation.....

Edit:

No lavenders listed on the site

Hatchery chicks usually don't have the perfect characteristics matched to the standard.

But there are only a couple breeds we know of with feathered feet.

Booted Bantams, Silkies, Brahmas, Langshans, Cochins. Then the breed that has not been accepted into the Standard yet; Marans.
