What rooster should I have for the winter in my pen

I would recommend not counting on your Rooster to defend. Instead improve your coop a little more to protect against those winter predators and put in a rooster that is best at serving the hens in comfort, or if you would like a rooster to breed with a hen to make the offspring of your choice!
 
I would never depend on a rooster to protect my flock thats why my run is mostly secure. The only thing that can get in is sparrows which eat the feed and leave. My cockerels did chase them off. But my youngest pullet actually handles them better than the cocks did.
 
Thank you all for your advice another reason I was going to put a different rooster in is that the golden laced Wyandotte recently got into a fight with one of the younger roosters and hurt his shoulder that’s also why they are separated
