In the following weeks I am going to be making a chicken run. I won't be having any roosters to defend my hens by that time but any ideas to make sure hawks don't get any of my birbies? Yes I have netting over the run. I hear CD's on strings or just facing iridescent-side-up to scare hawks and birds away works well. Any ideas to scare away hawks?

I use 25 lb test Berkeley fishing line in bright green and a hawk decoy I painted glossy black.. my young chicken were being hunted after I did this they gave up.

I used 25 lb test Berkeley fishing line in bright green and a actual hawk decoy I painted glossy black and since the Hawks moved on.

I have my pens covered with good heavy duty netting too. I used fishing lind in the past and an owl managed to get through it and kill some birds. The netting for me had been the best deterrent for hawks. One BYC member used a tube man. Good luck...
