What should eggs sit on in incubator?

Right now my eggs are on some paper towel. It's a small homemade incubator. I turn the eggs myself. It's made out of an old fish storage box, so it's styrofoam. When they hatch, what should I make sure to have down for them to hatch on. Is papertowel okay?

Paper towel will probably work. I use foam net shelf liner. Others use hardware cloth. Just as long as its not slick. I use to use window screen.

Anything that will give the babies some footing that they won't eat. Some kind of a wire bottom would be better but paper towles will be OK. 1/4X1/4 or 1/2X1/2 wire.
