Hi BYC! I feed my chickens layers pellets, oyster shell, mixed corn but they also love bread, porridge too! How often should I feed them bread/porridge and should I feed them any vegetables as they haven't got any grass.

One of my ladies had mites which caused her to lose weight, now she has been treated how can I increase her weight?

Hey There!!! I would definitely give your girls some veggies.

Some people just give their chickens layer pellets and they are happy with that.... I on the other hand spoil my girls!!!! i give them cucumbers, lettuce, chicken (oops) and everything else! i try to limit their bread consumption because like for humans, too much of starchy things cant be good. In the winter I fee them scratch daily. but in the summer it is not suggested and it makes them overheat.

THere are a few things that they should NOT EAT and there are many charts to help along the way!!! i know potatoes and avacados are BIG NO NOS!

here is a list of some goodies to feed chickens. careful with apple seeds too! not good!

Any kind of treat should not be more than 10% of their daily diet. A variety of treats is fine, but their primary source of nutrition should be their chicken feed.
